During July and August
2006, Spin-Off Theatre hit the Broads with their new show Snapped
Up!
It's fun for all the family, with songs and frolics from the 1920s
- a period of unparalleled frothiness, this is intriguing and uplifting
entertainment created from stories mysterious and humorous collected
from all over Norfolk and the Broads.
This year, Hollywood comes to Loddon in a tongue in cheek retelling
of Norfolk's history which sees Gone with the Wind shot at
Langley Park. Farce ensues, when the local extras get a taste for
stardom, trying to terrorize the stars with "supernatural"
goings-on and tales to make the heart beat faster. Roaring comedy,
drama and romance from the company that brought you Snapped!
and Snapped Again!
And STOP PRESS!!! This year, there's a chance to
see all the shows in a week, as the company performs Snapped!,
Snapped
Again! and Snapped Up! at The
Waveney River Centre.
Project background: During this project, we will collect
language, imagery and stories from Norfolk and Suffolk waterways and
record them for the Norfolk
Sound Archive. The culmination of each year's work will be a musical
drama, which weaves the stories and words we have collected into a
new story to celebrate local culture.
This project has been funded the Local Heritage Initiative. The
Local Heritage Initiative is a partnership between The Countryside
Agency, Nationwide Building Society and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The project is also funded by South Norfolk Council.
